Following years of unhappiness with my posture I went to see Elizabeth for a couple of lessons. From the time spent I can honestly say I am thinking very differently about the way I sit and stand. It’s pain-free – and Elizabeth’s knowledge and gentle approach were both very much appreciated. A really valuable experience. Thank you Elizabeth for your help
I developed chronic neck pain about two years ago and was diagnosed with canal stenosis. I decided against the option of a risky operation which might not result in any improvement. The stenosis has been exacerbated by poor posture when working at the computer and I was not standing up properly when walking. I have been visiting Elizabeth for over a year and she has guided me to concentrate on walking in a more natural position without straining my spine and an attitude of mind towards movement and general well being. I find the pain has eased and is much easier to manage. I can thoroughly recommend her treatment and would advise people suffering from back, neck or shoulder pain to contact her.
I came to see Elizabeth after a year of suffering with muscle pain, and loss of height. Elizabeth helped me in so many ways to understand how to use my body. The woman who walked in hunched and aching and stiff on her first appointment strode out and walked across Golders Hill Park as if she were forty years younger. I enjoyed Elizabeth’s clarity and helpful suggestions, creating verbal images for my imagination to work with when walking, sitting, and bending. The best part of the lesson was always lying on the table with Elizabeth adjusting very gently my position so that when I finally got up any pain I had been experiencing disappeared. The Alexander technique is incredibly powerful despite its overall gentleness and Elizabeth is a great teacher.

Learning the Alexander Technique has literally taken the pain out of my life. Now I know the right way of bending my body, I no longer experience the dreadful agony in my back region when I get out of bed or when I bend to pick something up off the floor, for example. What is more, the Alexander Technique has helped me focus better on what I’m doing, as I consciously prepare my body to get out of a chair, or to start walking, in a controlled way, rather than jerk to attention which impedes correct body movement. I wish to thank Elizabeth for being my AT teacher, for her ceaseless patience and for her clear-cut explanations.
I have very much benefited from my sessions with Elizabeth. She is a very good teacher, and she explains everything gently, interestingly and in a way which really penetrates, helps and leaves an impact. You come away feeling good and determined to put it into practice and make it part of your life. I have had some Alexander Technique lessons before, some time ago, but felt I needed a refresher as I was getting into some bad postural habits, both when standing and sitting. I met Elizabeth at a meeting organized by the North London Osteoporosis Society and thought she would be the right person to help me – which she was.
